1984 Olds Cutlass Calais Coupe K47

I got the car in May of 1995 with only 58k miles, my first car.  She was in immaculate shape and although she didn't need a paint job, she got one to correct a few rust spots and other blemishes.

She's been a great ride for me for the last 5 years.  I don't think they make them much more reliable than this one.  Aside from a quirky transmission which needed a rebuild at 90k miles, the engine has been bullet-proof, with about 122k miles on it currently (June 2001).  The 307 comes from a long line of Oldsmobile small block V8s (dating back to 1949 and lasting 41 years later until 1990), so old technology has certainly proven its worth with Flash I think.

Some might call her a dinosaur, with a V8 engine and a 4-bbl carburetor up top and rear wheel drive, but that's okay with me.  I love the car because it's not another "me-too" clone of today's cars.  Ironically over 300,000 Cutlasses were sold in 1984, but it is quite rare to see one in such good condition (if I do say so myself), and it's very nice to get comments on her from folks at car shows and cruise nights.
